Caregiving can be both emotionally and physically draining. Here is some advice from scientific and aging experts for caregivers to create happiness and joy while at work. I know, I know, this may look like a grocery list for you but just implementing any one these practices will make you feel better.
# 1 Practice Gratitude
It was mentioned in a caregiver spotlight interview, that writing down 3 things which you are grateful for increases your happiness throughout the day. Send a gratitude text to someone and brighten their day too.
# 2 Fresh Air!
Studies have shown that spending 20 minutes outside in good weather boosted positive mood and improved work. For caregivers these benefits are critical.
If it is impossible to get fresh air, you can try an Aromatherapy Air Humidifier.
# 3 Meditate
This sounds so complex, but it doesn't have to be at all! Here is a trick for easy meditation according to a local Melbourne meditation guru:
Spending as little as 5 minutes a day focusing on your breathing, leads to contentment, calmness and increase empathy when you're caring for others.
# 4 Practice Positivity
Professor Lyubomirsky, of University of California, has conducted research about happiness and its impact on health. One of her projects concluded that people have higher life satisfaction if they think about happy events for eight minutes every day.
Try listening to happy songs, think of happy events during your break or follow positive & motivational apps.
