Are you exhausted from uncontrollable snoring, not to mention the shame of keeping your partner, children, pets, visitors or roommates awake?
Snoring is natural and most of us will experience a noisy night’s sleep after a big night out or when sick with a blocked nose. But sometimes, for frequent snorers, it can be a sign of something more severe.
The good news is that our team at Statewide Home Health Care have conducted research on how you can conquer snoring naturally.
To explain snoring is actually pretty easy: Snoring occurs whenever you sleep without air flowing through your airways. When air is forced through your airways, it reverberates against the tissues in your nose and throat creating a snoring sound.

The first step is to understand why YOU snore so you can select the most suitable therapy route.
However, if you or your sleeping partner have noticed any of the following red flags, please visit your nearest GP.
Different techniques will be more efficient in preventing your snoring, or at least reducing the intensity, depending on the cause.
1. Change your sleeping position. Elevating your head four inches can ease breathing and facilitate the movement of your tongue and jaw forward. Specific pillows are available to assist by ensuring that your neck muscles are not tightened.
2. Sleep on your side instead of your back – Try to fasten a tennis ball to the back of your pajama top. If you roll over onto your back, the tennis ball will wake you up and encourage you to sleep back on your side. Alternatively, you can place a wedge pillow behind your back to help stop snoring.
There are a few types of anti-snoring pillows at Statewide Home Health Care, including:
3. Clear nasal passages before bed. - Rinse sinuses with saline before bed if you have a stuffy nose. Using a nasal decongestant or nasal strip can also assist you breathe easier as you sleep.
4. Keep your bedroom air moist - Dry air in the nose and throat can irritate the membranes, so if the issue is swollen nasal tissues, an air humidifier can assist. Check out our range of humidifiers here --à Air Humidifier
